Swim lessons........or maybe surf lessons

Today was Eric's last day of swim class. For fun they brought the surf boards in the water and as the instructors were pushing the board the kids got to "surf." It was really cute. They also go to go down the slide which little Eric loved. Yeah he passed level 1 and we have time to put him in level 2 before the end of summer. (The pictures aren't great. They were taken with my cell phone because I forgot my camera.)

We Are In For A Rough Time

Little Eric just seems to be getting brattier and brattier (if that is even a word. :)~ ) He sometimes forgets that he is not part of the parenting team. Tonight we had some ice cream and when he got done he asked for some more. I told him no that was all he was going to get. He then told me that he would sleep in if I gave him some (he has been getting up early lately and every night when he goes to bed I make sure to tell him to sleep in late). I tell him no and that he needs to go upstairs and brush his teeth. As he is walking upstairs he told me he wasn't listening to me because he couldn't get anymore ice cream. Big Eric then went upstairs to kindly remind him that that is not the way he talks to us. Little Eric proceeds to try and tell us what he is going to do. Big Eric then takes his story privilege away. Well that just sends little Eric into a fit and starts sobbing. He then starts to cry that if he doesn't get a story that he is not going to sleep in and was going to wake up early. When did a 5 year old learn that he was going to call all the shots. Jokes on him though - this mama will always be in charge.
If he is only 5 and already acting like this I don't even want to know how it is going to be when he is a teenager.
