Place in Iraq

So Laura has been after me to blog about my time so far here in Iraq. I have had the opportunity to go places most guys don't. I have already been to Kurdistan for a lunch. Yes that is another country and the other day I went to Saddam's mothers palace which is on the Tigeris river. So part of what I do here is take the PRT (provincial reconstruction team) to the various locations so that they can have their meetings with the locals. These teams are civilians who mostly come from the State Depart. They are here to teach the Iraqis how to build a better infrastructure, farm better and how to better govern themselves. So we are basically a taxi service. I have taken some pictures and will continue to take more and post them here. Enjoy.

Predeployment Activities

Before Eric's unit left they had a company picnic. They cooked out and then just a bunch of games. Little Eric had a great time but of course he did because he was outside and playing sports - his 2 favorite things!

Before the brigade left there was a deployment ceremony where some big wigs talked and then they cased the flags to take over to Iraq. It was pretty cool to see the whole brigade out in formation. Here are a bunch of pictures of that day.

Hera and the Slip n Slide

I pulled the slip n slide out for little Eric this summer and discovered that Hera wanted to take part in the fun too. Eric got mad sometimes because Hera wouldn't move out of the way. It was pretty funny.

Our House

I know we have been in our house since April and I am now just posting pictures. I've had a few things going on in my life. This is our house and we love it! It is so nice to have more space. And we have a guest bedroom so feel free to come and visit!
