I Can't Believe He is Seven!!

One of the reasons that Eric took his leave so late was to be here for little Eric's birthday. I knew that I didn't have the energy to plan a birthday party so we talked about it and decided that we could do a birthday party at the bowling alley for pretty cheap. I felt guilty all along that I wasn't a good mom for not having a party at home. I quickly got over that though as the party started and I could sit and chat with a friend during the party. After the kids bowled a game we went over to the park and had cupcakes and we opened presents. All in all it was a very successful birthday; adding to the face that big Eric was able to be here.

Welcome Home big Eric

The night that Eric got home for R&R, he was welcomed home by a tsunami warning. An earthquake had hit Japan which generated a watch that was upgraded to a warning. The last time that there was a warning everybody freaked out about it but it turned out to do no harm. This time there seemed to be a great urgency about it. We live in the middle of the island away from water so we weren't concerned with that but we were concerned about no power and water. We filled up all the pitchers and water bottles and found our lantern and candles. It wasn't supposed to hit until about 3am and me and Eric debated staying up or at least waking up around that time to see what happens. He was exhausted from all his traveling so he went right to bed and did not wake up. I was going to get up but ended up sleeping right through. When we got up the next morning we found out that it had hit but the wave only ended being like 3 feet so there wasn't much damage; mostly to the boat marinas. As we thought about it it was kind of scary to think that a tsunami had hit and we lived here for it. It was very minor but still it had hit. We are just thankful that we stayed safe.

Eric's R&R

I know I am behind since this happened back in March (one day I will be caught up on my blog). Eric got home for R&R on March 10. It took longer to get home than we thought; we were just happy that he made it home by Eric's birthday. With Eric coming home for R&R we were able to go back to the gate and welcome him. We didn't know how long it would all take so we got the to the airport early and ended up having to wait like an hour and a half. It's ok though - Eric was coming home.
Here are some pictures from the airport.
