Meet Bob

So I'm fish-sitting for my best friend. She will be gone 2 weeks. The fish's name is Bob. I'm so nervous to fish-sit for him. I'm so nervous that something might happen to Bob. What if I feed him to much? What if I don't feed him enough? What if little Eric gets up and wants to play with Bob? What if I don't clean out his bowl as often as I should? I know I know; I am raising a 4-year-old and he is pretty normal. I manage to feed him enough and bath him, and clothe him. Raising a child is way harder. Why am I so afraid that I might kill this fish? Maybe I need to go and get my head checked out. :)

Laura: years & years ago when we had our nursery/garden center, we also sold tropical fish. I'll never forget the day a very upset young-ish man came in looking for a red betta (like the one you're tending, only red!) He was tending for his girlfriend, and somehow the fish had not "stayed healthy". Can you say "belly-up"? Anyway, he was desperately trying to find a match so that she wouldn't notice when she returned! We had a couple of red ones, but his had unusually long fins, so he was going to try and convince her that the fins had "worn off" at the bottom! We all had a good laugh over that situation. I wish I knew how it turned out! GOOD LUCK! Auntie Yvonne

We have a Bob. Our Bob is named Princess, and we inherited it from Kylie's classroom at the end of the school year. That was ok at first, but now that I've had to change the water and clean the bowl a few times, I'm not so thrilled. I guess we're just not going to be a pet family if we can't even handle a fish. How long do you think these fish live?

I had a couple of those betta fish when I was younger and even though I took good care of them, they didn't seem to last very long. I'm sure you will do great and everything will go fine. I think they are pretty fish!
