Update from Afghanistan

We have been someone busy in the last couple weeks. We have done a few missions, I just got done doing some AK 47 ranges with the Afghans. There has been quite a bit of harassing of each other as well as some poker being played here. Me of course, I just watch and am picking the game up by just watching. I just want to say Happy Valentine's day to you all. I have started working out in the gym with three of the other guys on the team and am now over the hump of being lazy and making excuses as to why I can not go. We have a local guy who is our contractor Mohammad Zahir. He does all of our major projects around the FOB. He had us over for dinner a week or so ago and it was very good. It was lamb, beef and rice. He speaks fairly good english and is a very smart business man. The next day we were invited to eat lunch with the Afghan commander and his Sergeant Major. Again more of the same food but lunch did not include lamb. Lamb here is expensive so you need money to afford it. It is interesting that the more money you have or the more the level of prestige the better the food you get. Like with the ANA, the officers always have better food than the soldiers and Non Commissioned Officers. I think that is kind of wrong but that is how this country works. For those who don't know the coalition forces (other american forces) on this FOB have been trying to make us move out of out building and into...who knows actually. Well we thought that the issue was resolved and that we weren't going to move and they were going to do something else with the gym. Well now all of a sudden the tell us we need to move and do it now. I thought we were all supposed to just get along and play nice. Guess not!! Other than that we are doing pretty good.
