Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIC!!

Today is my hubby's birthday and I just wanted to wish him a happy birthday. I wish so bad that he could be here to celebrate it with us. I talked to him this morning and of course to him it is just like any other day. The hightlight of his day was taking a nap. He isn't even at his usual FOB to get his birthday card/box. That is the life of the military I guess. But I just wanted to say Happy Birthday baby!! We love you and miss you lots. Can't wait until you get home!

We're Under Attack

The other day my friend Erin and I took our boys to the lake right over by our house to feed the ducks. It was quite the experience. We kept feeling like the ducks were going to attack us. We kept passing big groups of ducks that would see us coming and start walking toward us. I guess they could smell the bread. I had to take a video (just ignore my talking - I don't make sense. :)~ Erin says I sound scared but i promise I'm not! I was laughing to hard. Just remember - just don't listen to me.) and some pictures because me and Erin couldn't stop laughing. By the time we were leaving we had a group of angry ducks following us (right before we came upon the group they had been "yelling" at each other), Logan was trying to follow the ducks into the lake so Erin was chasing after him, and Eric was trying to pick up the duck poop because he didn't know what it was. It was quite an adventure and I'm sure me and Erin will laugh about it for a long time.

this group of ducks were the ones "yelling"at each other and then started following us. The guy in the picture had to stop because the ducks were everywhere.

My Big Helper

Eric is getting to the point where he wants to help me with EVERYTHING! Even if I want his help or not he is right there offering his services. The other day I let him help me make cookies. He was doing such a good job I couldn't help but take pictures. I guess I should take advantage of all the help he wants to offer before he gets older and doesn't want to help with ANYTHING.

Update!

I know it has been forever since I last posted. I don't know what my problem has been - I haven't felt up to posting. Something must be wrong with me! :)
Not too much has been happening here. I have been engrossed with the Olympics. I feel that is all I watch these days. I TiVo them for Eric and then record on a DVD the events that he wants to see. but it has overtaken my life! Thank goodness we only have a couple of days left and I can have my life back. :)
No takers on the house yet. I'm really trying not to stress. We do have some time but it has been kind of discouraging because I haven't had a single call on it in about a week and a half. We did get our official orders last week so I'm getting even more excited.
Other than that I'm just trying to keep my sanity some days and we are counting (at least I am counting) down the days until Eric starts preschool. I do love that little guy but there are some days I just want to strangle him. The other day he almost got left in the shopping cart in the parking lot at Wal-Mart. We do have our moments but I can hardly stay mad at him for too long. He is quite the funny kid and always keeps me entertained. Some funny stories -
We were on our way to a baseball game and I was talking to my friend Denise on the phone. It looked like it might rain but I was telling Denise that it was okay if we got wet. Little Eric pipes up from the back seat, "Yeah she won't melt, she's not made of sugar....or butter!" When he added in the butter I thought I might wreck the car I was laughing so hard. Then at the game one of the batters had hit the ball out into the outfield and Eric turned to me and said, "That was a mighty fine hit"
A couple of weeks ago I was making dinner one Sunday night. It was just one of the those days and I wasn't in the best of moods, I missed my husband. I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner and decided on a soup mix I had and I was going to make corn bread muffins to go with it. Well I realized that both took milk and I didn't have much milk left. Well since it had been one of those days I didn't want anything else and decided (I still feel so guilty. My parents raised me right!) that we would just run to the gas station and get some milk. So we did, I made the soup and muffins (and the soup didn't even turn out good - I guess that is what I get). Well now if there is anything what Eric wants to do on Sunday he will still ask. I'll tell him no we don't do things on Sunday and he politely reminds me that "we went to the gas station and bought milk on Sunday." I guess i know better next time. If I do something I shouldn't Eric will remind of it.
Little Eric has gotten into the "Knock Knock Joke" phase. He always tells me that he has a knock knock joke for me whether it starts with knock knock. And of course none of it makes sense but he thinks that he jokes are the funniest jokes there are! Oh to be a kid again.
Little Eric asked me the other day when if we could get a pet snake. I told him no we could not get one. He then asked if we couldn't get one because I was afraid of snakes. I said yes that was one of the reasons. He then said, "But mommy, it can stay in the back yard." I've got news for him - we will never ever have a pet snake.
I guess that is all the funny i can think of. I know there is more but that is what I get for not posting sooner. I will leave you with a kind of discouraging story. Eric and I were at the store last week and waiting to check out. I don't know what made him think of this but he turned to me and asked when we were going to have another baby. I told him I didn't know and he said, "when Daddy gets home." I said yes it will be after Daddy gets home. If only he knew that we have been trying for a while. *sigh* He has been talking alot about babies and last night was talking about how he will be a good big brother.

How can you get mad at a face like this?

He's a Lifer!

Today Eric signed his life (well the rest of his life) away to the military. Yes that is right - he reenlisted. But because he was over 10 years he had to reenlist indefinitely. His ETS date is July 31, 2020. He was going to do this regardless but to go to Hawaii you have to have at least 3 years left on his enlistment and he didn't so he decided to go ahead and do it and get the bonus tax free. Kind of scary to think about! :)

Are You Blind???

This is me and my best friend Denise. The other day we had taken our kids to Burger King for lunch. We were all done and just sitting there laughing and having a good time. At the other table there in the kids play area there was a lady there with her kids. The whole time she was in there so just kept glancing at us. I don't know if it was because we were acting crazy or maybe she just wishes she could have looked as good as we do (although from this picture I don't look too hot although Denise does. :)~ ) Anyways - as we were sitting there we made small talk with the lady. Then she asks us (which I still can't believe) if we were sisters. Now I know we have a very similar haircut but come on - sisters?!? The rest of the day I just kind of chuckled because I couldn't believe what she had asked. Kind of reminds me when people would tell me and Becca (my twin sister) that we looked so much alike they couldn't tell us apart.
If you feel that we look so much alike then I think it is time to get your eyes checked! :)

Trying to Beat the Heat!

It has been so hot here this summer. I kind of forget every year what a summer is like in Alabama. For the past couple of weeks it has been in the upper 90's with what feels like 2000% humidity. So needless to say we don't spend much time outside. Well Eric is starting to get a little crazy and I couldn't stand it anymore so I convinced him to go and play outside. After being outside for a few minutes I checked on him and could tell that he was so hot. His face was all red and he was sweating. I figured it had been a while since I let him play in his pool and slip-in-slide so I pulled it out for him. I couldn't help but take a few cute pictures. While he played I tried to sit in the shade and read but I didn't get much reading done because I was so hot and sweaty. Next time maybe I should just get in with him. :)

Imagine It Children's Museum

On my sister's way to Arizona they came by way of Atlanta and we met her and her family up there and took the kids to Imagine It Children's Museum of Atlanta. We had so much fun. It was very inexpensive (especially with the military discount) and the kids had a BALL. Here are a few fun pictures of the kids. I would recommend this to anyone with kids passing through Atlanta.

Swim Lessons

Little Eric finished his swim lessons last week. He had a great time with them. Although he can't swim very well yet he is getting there and I know that if he keeps practicing he will get the hang of it.

his last lesson - he actually swam by himself underwater for a few seconds.
