Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain

Pro Bowl Ohana Day

For those of you who don't know the NFL Pro Bowl is played here in Honolulu. This year they had a meet and greet on post. They had a couple of the cheerleaders come and 3 mascots come. Then the day before the Pro Bowl they had Ohana (which means family) Day at the stadium. MWR had buses go down so we rode on one of those. At the stadium they had the mascots and cheerleaders and alto of different activities go on down on the field. We even got to watch the 2 teams practice alittle. It was fun to go down and the best thing about it it was all free.

My Little Cheater

Last night we were playing Candy Land and I realized that I have quite the cheater of a son. Now I know that he is only 4 and it is to be expected alittle; as in moving 6 spaces instead of 4. But as we were setting up the cards he grabbed a card with an orange color (so he could move up the trail) and the card with I think the gumdrop which would move him the farthest. He told them I needed to put those cards on the top of the stack. I told him no and that he needed to put the cards in the stack. He then took the cards and tried to hide them under her leg so then he could use them when he wanted. I couldn't believe it. I don't know where he learned those behaviors.....

Our house

People have been asking for pictures of our house. We finally got everything unpacked and most of the pictures on the wall. It is nothing glamorous but I guess it will do. (I'm really trying not to complain about it.) I keep telling myself it could be so much worse.

one half of the living room (or "our office")
the other half of our living room (I'm standing on the stairs to get more of it. To the right of the piano is the file cabinet that you see in the previous picture. That wall is wall to wall furniture. Oh well - you got to do what you got to do)

Makapu'u Lighthouse

A couple of weeks ago we hiked up to the Makapu'u Lighthouse. It was a pretty good hike up the mountain with virtually no shade. But I have to say it is a beautiful hike. For at least half of the hike if not more you are right there looking at the ocean. In the winter this is a good place to go whale watching. Unfortunately we didn't see any but there were some ladies there with binoculars whale counting and they could see some off in the water. One of the lady's said she had been there a couple days before that and she said that there had been whales pretty close up that you didn't need binoculars. Hopefully we will make it back up there before the whale watching season ends (which is sometime in March I think). I think it would be way cool to see them. Eric's sister and her boyfriend are coming next week so maybe I'll convince them that they want to go. :)

Funny Eric

I was putting up blinds the other day in little Eric's room. He went and grabbed his apron filled his front pockets with who knows what, grabbed his hammer, and put on his eye mask. He then told me that he had to wear the eye mask in case the nail flew out and came towards his eyes he would be protected. He is right! He is so funny!

Eric was playing outside soon after we moved in. We had this chest that I had originally kept blankets in but had no room for it anywhere in the house. We decided we would use it for Eric's toy chest outside. The top of it is pretty heavy and I told big Eric that we needed to put like a door hinge on it so it wouldn't slam down on Eric. Well that day we heard little Eric yell for us. Big Eric went out there and then I heard little Eric say he was stuck. Big Eric called for me to hurry with the camera and this is what I found when I got out there. The top had closed on little Eric. He didn't get hurt and just laughed about it. (By the way - Eric did not poop his pants. He had been playing at the playground and the slides are all dirty. :)~ )

Valentine's Day

I'll just say that I have alot of posting to do so over the next couple days look for new posts. They won't be in any sort of order so I'm really sorry about that.

This Valentine's Day my sweet husband took me on a dinner cruise. It was pretty nice. We both agreed that it was one of the cheaper of the dinner cruises (we also got a great deal on it) they had here and it was pretty full (duh it was Valentine's Day) but I didn't think it was too bad. The views we had were really pretty and it made me feel like I was on a huge cruise ship again. :)
Thanks babe for a great Valentine's date!!

Quite A Funny Sight!

Yesterday we went to the beach (surprise surprise) and we saw a pretty funny thing. Eric and I were sitting there watching Eric play in the water and I looked over at a family that had kids playing there in the sand. As I was watching them I noticed what one of the girls was doing with the sand. She was probably around 6 or 7 years old and was wearing a 2 piece bathing suit. She was stuffing the sand in her top so make it look like she had boobs. She would stuff the top and then pat them and decide she wanted more so she would add more sand and pat them some more. Her older sister (who was probably around 9) noticed what she was doing so the younger one let all the sand out. I could then tell that the older sister was saying something around the lines of make them bigger. So they laughed about it as the younger girl went back to stuffing her top. The mom was sitting there by them but was reading a book so didn't notice what was going on. If she did, I'm sure she wouldn't have allowed it. Taking a picture wouldn't have been appropriate but I sure wish I had one. Me and Eric chuckled everytime we thought about it.

On other notes Eric threw he wallet away yesterday. We went and grabbed something to eat but his bathing suit was still alittle wet and he didn't want to put his wallet in his pocket so he decided to put it on the tray. As we sat down I thought to myself that it would be kind of funny if he threw his wallet away. I then thought that I needed to make sure that he got it off the tray. We finished eating and I forgot all about it. We were walking out to the car and Eric asked me if I got his wallet. I told him no and then remembered that it was sitting on the tray. He ran back in there and found it. Thanks goodness we had remembered about it right away and not thinking about it when we went to go and get our ID card to get onto post - he even had my ID. So needless to say it was an exciting day.

I'm not so sure about this...

Yesterday I was sitting on the couch and I looked over and saw a gecko climb over the back of the couch and stopped next to me and looked over at me as to say, "What's up." I'm just not sure if I am okay with geckos climbing on my furniture. I thought they were supposed to more afraid of us than we are of them.

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth

I promise I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. We finally moved into our house and it has been nice but quite emotional for me. We are no longer on vacation but now actually live here! We do like it but I sure do miss my friends and house in Alabama! Our house is only half the size of the one in Alabama so it has been quite an adjustment. It is an older house so I'm getting used to that too. I was just very much spoiled! We have only seen 5 monstrous water bugs and 1 gecko in our house.
I have ALOT to blog but we haven't gotten our modem for the Internet. We are "stealing" our neighbors Internet so I hate to be on for a long time. Once we get everything hooked up I will get to blogging.

Watch Out for the Wild Ones.....

This past week at the golf course here on post there was a Pro-Am golf Tournament that Eric played in. We were going to go and watch so we rode over there with Eric. As we were waiting for it to start we were out in the parking lot and I noticed this sign. I was so happy that I had my camera with me. So just watch our for those crazy tail gating golf fans because you know golf tournaments are known for their crazy tailgating!
Today I also went and watched my first golf tournament. The LPGA had a tournament up at Turtle Bay Resort and Eric wanted to go and watch Janelle the pro golfer that he played with the other day. My boys went yesterday and watched and they wanted to go today so I was a good wife and went with. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was just VERY windy and rained on us a couple of times. It was so windy that at one point of time I opened the umbrella because it was starting to rain and the wind blew the umbrella right out of my hands. Big Eric went chasing after it because he didn't want it to blow on the fairway. I wish I had my camera because it was so funny watching him running after the umbrella. He didn't catch it because he blew into the lake and then sunk. Little Eric then turned to me and said we needed to go back to the car and get the bathing suit that we just bought him so he could swim out in the lake and get our umbrella back. It was too cute. I assured him that it was okay and we could just buy another one.
