Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain

I Got It To Work

So I got the video to work. Enjoy watching my little soccer star! :)

Some Eric"isms"

Just a few quick stories from Eric
I hope nobody finds the next story too gross or offensive - it was too funny not to post
Eric was sitting on the toilet pooping the other day when he yelled to me and said the following:
Eric: Mommy!!
Me: What Eric?
Eric: Mommy I bent down to smell my poop and it smells like chicken. Did I have chicken today"
Me: (taking a minute to try and not die laughing) I don't know Eric I think we had it yesterday. Now hurry up and finish!

Yesterday Eric was tyring to fold a shirt of his when he couldn't do it. He turned to me and said "Mommy I can't fold. I need to take folding lessons so I can help you fold my underwear and shirts.
I don't know where he comes up with this crazy stuff but it sure is funny!

Just some other updates from us. Things are going fine. Little Eric loves preschool. They even sometimes get homework (usually just a sheet to practice whatever letter they are working on for the week) and he thinks it is the coolest thing. The first day he got it he came home and said "Mommy I've got homework like real big kids." I'm so glad he likes it though. He even has a little girlfriend. When the teacher said something to her about Eric moving she said that that was okay; she would just write to him. How cute! :) Soccer has started and Eric is also loving that. I can't believe that he is old enough to do all this.
On a sad note big Eric's grandpa passed away yesterday from cancer. It is very sad and very hard for Eric and his family. But he is not suffering anymore and he is back with his wife who passed away 5 years ago. I'm grateful for the knowledge that I know we will see him again. We are super happy because big Eric is going to be able to come home for the funeral. He is traveling as we speak. He is only going to be home for 5 days but we are so happy for the time that he will have to spend with his family in this time of grief.
Grandpa Pete, we will miss you!!

Just Showing Off

My sister Rebecca sent me more pictures today of Leah (or Michaelina as I like to call her because she looks just like her Daddy) so I just have to post 2 of them because she is so cute!

I've Hooked Another One!

So I'm trying to see how many people I can get hooked on Guitar Hero. I love to play but Eric hates to play (even though he has only tried it like twice. I keep telling him the more he plays the more he will love it) so I have to see how many people I can get hooked so I have somebody to play with. It gets pretty boring playing it by yourself. I got my friend Denise loving the game, my sister Catherine and her husband loving the game, and now I've got my friend Erin and her husband Aaron loving the game. Who will be my next victim........?

Soccer

Well soccer has started for us in this household. Eric had his 1st game this past Saturday and he had a blast. He even scored a couple goals. I have a video of him scoring but blogger was acting up so I will get it posted as soon as possible.

My Boy!

Don't you just love this beautiful face!

Interesting Sights Around Town

I've learned that I have to make sure I always have my camera with me because I never know what I might see when I'm out. Yesterday I took little Eric to the circus that was here in town (side note - after the circus little Eric told me that when he gets bigger he wants to be part of the circus. My son wants to be a carni!!) Anyways, as we were leaving I happened to notice this hearse out in the parking lot. I turned to my friend and commented that somebody brought a hearse to the circus. We laughed for a minute and then we noticed that there was a car seat in the front seat. Well that just got us laughing more. I whipped out my camera and had to get closer to get a picture. As we got closer we noticed that there wasn't 1 but 2 car seats in it. As we were passing it we heard the driver say to the guy in the green shirt (in a very country accent), "this is my personal vehicle; I even take it grocery shopping." I thought I was going to die laughing!

This is a sight that I see every Sunday on my way to church. I just shake my head every time I pass. The plastic playhouse is on top of a tree that was cut down. Recently they have painted the tree white and put blue polkadots on it. What cracks me up is the Barbie bug that sits right up next to the house. I really don't know what the point of this is - I sure hope nobody is playing up in it because it sure doesn't look safe. Only in Alabama!

$.60 in One Day.....Really?

I'm alittle mad and alittle irritated at myself right now. The other day gas was $3.59 and I didn't really need it but kept thinking that I should fill up anyways because I knew it would probably go up some with the hurricane coming. Well I didn't. Yesterday it went up to $3.69 and kept thinking I'm now at 1/2 tank - I should fill up. But I didn't. This morning when I went to work it was still $3.69 and thought I will will fill up later. 2 hours later on my way home from work it had jumped to $3.99. Now I didn't feel very good and thought, "oh I will go out later and get some if I go out." I also thought maybe I could make my half a tank last until sometime next week and it would have gone down. Well then my friend called because she couldn't believe at how much gas had gone up. I asked her; afraid to know the answer. When she told me that it had gone up to $4.29 I almost dropped the phone. I hung up with her grabbed my keys and went to the gas station hoping that it hadn't gone up over by my house. Well I didn't get lucky. It had indeed gone up to $4.29. but I went ahead and filled up because who knows how much it will go up to since the hurricane hasn't even hit. I was at 1/2 tank and put 12 gallons in and spent $54. I'm glad i didn't wait - i might not to be able to afford groceries if I did. :)
That is what I get for waiting I guess. Eric always tells me that I shouldn't wait to do things. Well this time you were right baby - I shouldn't have waited!

If You Are Interested

The time has come for Eric to do some fundraising for his soccer team. They are doing a Tupperware Fundraiser (which I'm not looking forward to since I'm trying to sell Pampered Chef. :)~ ). So if any of you guys are interested in buying Tupperware just let me know. You can view the catalog here (two different catalogs will be listed. Just make sure you click on the fundraiser one.) There is no pressure. Just thought I would put it out there in case anybody needs some Tupperware. Thanks!

My New Niece

My twin sister Rebecca had her baby the other day. Leah Joyce was born September 9 in the morning. I just had to post a picture of her because she is so cute. I can't wait to go out and see her. Congratulations Becca and Michael - I'm so happy for you guys!

Lost in the Kitchen

I've gotten to the point where I have run dry of ideas for what to cook for dinner. I'm tired of the same things and need new ideas. So I copied my friend Jessica and have started a cooking blog/recipe swap type thing. (Jessica's blog has some great recipes.) So if you are in the same boat as me, make a stop at my blog. And please share any ideas or recipes that you have tired or would like to try. I know there are so many of us moms who are in the same situation as me so I hope this helps you out when dinnertime rolls around.

I Guess It Could Happen

Little Eric asked me today as we were on our way home where lightening comes from. I told him I didn't know. He then said, "I think Jesus takes a pencil and draws it and then erases it" He then asked me where thunder comes from, I told him I don't know waiting for him to tell me his theory on it but he didn't.
I just thought this was too cute not to share.

1st Day of Preschool

Today was little Eric's first day of preschool. Where did all the time fly to? I can't believe that he is old enough to go. He was so excited to go and when I picked him up he said he had a great day and really liked it. He told me they got to color, read stories and even had a snack. He did tell me that he didn't get to cut or glue anything (we had to provide those materials so he knew that they were there) but thankfully not being able to do those things didn't ruin his day.
I'm really excited that he started. Yeah i miss him for those couple of hours during the day but I think it is so good for him to be able to get out of the house and do something - Mom is getting to be pretty boring. Hopefully he will be this excited for the rest of the year.

Gold teeth anyone?

I passed this store while in Fayetteville. I just had to post a picture of it because I think it is so funny. I've never seen a store just for gold teeth (although you can't see but there is a sign on the window saying they do jewelry repair also.) My favorite is the outline of the teeth on the window. So if you are contemplating getting a "grill" just let me know. I'll point you in the right direction. :)

Got Kool-Aid?

Do you think Eric drank too much kool-aid?

Labor Day 2008

For Labor Day me and Eric, my parents, my sister and her husband, and my nephew went to Ft. Fisher Beach. It was the perfect weather. The sun was out bright but it wasn't too hot and there was a slight breeze. It was just perfect weather. Unfortunately because of tropical storm Hannah there were very dangerous rip currents so we couldn't go swimming in the water. We could only go wading in the water. Eric and Marcus had a great time playing though. It was a great relaxing day!

I've lost little Eric....

I lost little Eric while I was at my mom's but somehow managed to come home with Spider Man.
My mom made this costume a couple of years ago for Marcus at Halloween. Eric has been telling me that he wants to be Spider Man for Halloween so I thought we could just borrow this costume since it was so cute. Since the time we got it from Sarah on Saturday he has worn it almost non-stop. He even wore it home on the trip yesterday and wanted to wear it into Burger King when we stopped. I wouldn't let him but as soon as he was finished eating the costume went right back on. I'm glad he is getting good use out of it!

Happy Birthday Jordan!

While I was home we celebrated my niece Jordan's birthday. It is a tradition that my mom does the cake. Jordan's brother Marcus asked my mom to make a cake that looks like Jordan. We found some ideas on how to do the cake and this is how it turned out. Don't you think it looks just like Jordan? :)
